Job summary

Brooklyn Community Services in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Group Leader for the Cornerstone Farragut program. The role reports to the Cornerstone Program Director and Assistant Director, and works on-site at 137 Belmont Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11212.

FT 35 hours per week – school year, weekdays and weekends 2:00pm-10:00pm; summer hours 3:00pm-11:00pm. The group leader will supervise activities for children, youth, adults and seniors and ensure health and safety protocols are followed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; some college education preferred.
• Background in sports, music, drama, dance, photography, crafts, sewing, or the arts is a plus.
• Must enjoy working with children and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Work with Site Director and Assistant Director to provide activities for children, youth, adults and seniors.
• Supervise and manage running a classroom with support from an activity specialist.
• Follow all DOH, DYCD, DOE and BCS health and safety protocols.
• Develop school learning curricula and activities for children ages K-5.
• Plan activities and prepare materials for the daily schedule with the activity specialist.
• Supervise groups during activities, snack, recreation and field trips; extend to evening/weekend for applicable sites.
• Take daily attendance and enter it into the DYCD database.
• Develop and plan community events for children, parents and community.
• Oversee drop-off and pick-up per health and safety rules.
• Outreach to parents and community about programs and events.
• Attend training and comply with safety protocols; perform other duties as needed.
