CCAB in Peabody, MA is seeking a Group Leader for Childcare to support daily operations of a school age program serving 30-100+ children from the local community. The role focuses on supervision, planning activities, snacks, and homework help, Monday through Friday, 10:00 am–6:00 pm.

The successful candidate will have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of experience with school age children, and be prepared to meet background checks and required trainings (CPR/First Aid,

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, or Associate Degree.
  • Must have at least one year demonstrated experience working with school age children.
  • Pass background check (CORI/SORI/DCF), fingerprinting and three reference checks.
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: CPR, First Aid, Medication Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct daily enrichment activities for children including homework help, physical activities, arts & crafts, and group work.
  • Prepare and serve healthy snacks.
  • Provide documented lesson plans for all activities.
  • Monitor children's progress and needs; maintain a safe and supportive environment.
  • Communicate positively with parents on a daily basis.

Group Leader - Childcare

30 to 40 Hours Full-Time Clerical 13 Pulaski Street, Peabody, MA, US

Salary Range: $21.44 To $28.95 Hourly

The Group Leader will work with Site Coordinator and other School Age Child Care/OST Staff to ensure the daily operation of their assigned group. The School Age Program will have a team of staff members at the site that will provide care to 30-100+ children from their local community. Group Leaders will be responsible for supervision and care of children in grades K- 8.They will be responsible for planning daily activities, snack, and homework help. Group Leaders must be professional and committed to represent Catholic Charities in a manner that aligns with the mission and goals of our organization.

SHIFT: Monday through Friday 10:00 am-6:00 pm

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan and conduct daily enrichment activities for children, i.e. homework help, physical activities, arts & crafts projects, group work, and various other activities determined by staff
  • Responsible for preparing/serving healthy snacks
  • Provide documented lesson plans for all activities
  • Monitor children's progress and needs as appropriate
  • Develop and maintain a safe and supportive environment that responds to and supports the needs of each child
  • Positive communication with parents on daily basis
  • Positive role model, high energy, and good communication skills
  • Follow through with all Agency directives, and assigned tasks and projects in a professional and positive manner, respecting supervision and constructive criticism
  • Model the CCAB mission statement to "respect the dignity of all people"
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings, which may involve evening hours
  • Meet EEC requirements for professional development hours completed each year, and enter them in the PQ Registry under the appropriate Core Competency
  • Have a plan for his/her own professional development (tPDP), staying current in the field by attendance at workshops and conferences, reading relevant literature, and/or taking courses leading to a certificate or a degree
  • Demonstrate willingness to work with colleagues as a team player.
  • Maintain a high standard of ethical conduct and professional responsibility, including confidentiality, to children, families, colleagues, the Agency and the community.
  • Physical, mental and emotional ability to accomplish the job, including evacuating the building, with or without corrective devices and accommodations, including the ability to read and write, to hear the conversational voice, to speak and be understood, and the ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, or Associate Degree
  • Must have at least one year demonstrated experience working with school age children.
  • Experience working with diverse /children/youth and families between the ages of 5.13 years of age
  • Pass background record check (CORI/SORl/DCF), fingerprinting and three reference checks.
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention, CPR; First Aid, Medication Administration
