Job summary

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation is hiring part‑time Group Leaders for the United Community Center Elementary After School program in New York City. The role is hourly, 15‑17 hours per week, Monday–Friday, typically from 2:00 to 6:00 pm.

Responsibilities include planning and leading engaging activities, maintaining safety, and coordinating attendance and records while supporting ongoing professional development and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of college education.
  • Experience with children preferred.
  • Bilingual ability is a plus.

  • Adhere to policies and ensure safety and care of children.
  • Build positive relationships with participants and staff.
  • Manage the assigned group and enforce discipline as needed.

  • Inspect facilities, equipment, and supplies daily.
  • Engage in professional development and trainings.
  • Support leadership development and community building activities.

Job description

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation has openings for part-time Group Leaders in the United Community Center Elementary After School program.This position is hourly for 15-17 hours per week, Monday - Friday, and typically occurs between the hours of 2:00 - 6:00 pm.Principal Duties:Plan, implement, and document successful educational, recreation, youth leadership, community service and arts activities with school-aged children.Adhere to policies and procedures in a proactive manner, making the safety and care of children your primary focus.Build a positive relationship with each after-school participant in your care, and foster positive connections between participants.Actively engage with children at all times with the goal of fostering the positive development of each child and the group.Conduct yourself as a professional and representative of the agency with school staff, parents, children and anyone else with whom you come into contact in your role.Effectively manage the assigned group.
