Job summary

Ultipro is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Lead in Oakland to oversee the timely shipping, receiving, and storage of materials. You will supervise Levels 2 and 3, ensure GMP procedures, and exemplify safety and attendance.

Responsibilities include managing temperature logs, coordinating with drivers, training staff, and using the company system to view inventory, transfers, and reports. The role requires 0-1 years experience preferred, forklift and box truck operation, and the ability to work

Qualifications

  • Previous shipping & receiving experience required.
  • 0-1 years of experience in related field is preferred.
  • Stand-up forklift experience required.
  • Must be able to competently operate a box truck.
  • Possess good communication and leadership skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, and demonstrate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess intermediate math skills.
  • Ability to work with technology.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and rules.
  • Must be self-motivated and a self-starter, needing little direction.

Responsibilities

  • Ships and receives raw materials and finished product.
  • Puts away raw materials in coolers and freezers.
  • Loads and unloads trucks at warehouse.
  • Records temperatures of coolers, freezers, and raw materials being tempered.
  • Assists prep room with raw material needs.
  • Assists inventory control with inventory count and disposals.
  • Cleans and organizes coolers, freezers, and dock area.
  • Sweeps and washes out dirty trailers.
  • Picks up trash around the perimeter of plant, including using a leaf blower.
  • Prints allergen tags.
  • Communicates with drivers regarding scheduling for the day.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Training of Level 1 and 2 responsibilities to new hires.
  • Creates transfers for needed product and email to shipping facility.
  • Utilizes company system to view incoming product, product component lines, check inventory, receive transfers, and review reports.
  • Entry of purchase orders.
  • Communicates with other facilities regarding shipping and receiving discrepancies.
  • Reviews schedules to ensure frozen items are tempered accordingly.
  • Completes Redzone checklists.
  • Handles cleaning chemicals in a safe manner, utilizing safety equipment.
  • Communicates with fellow processing members.
  • Willing and able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands at once.
  • This role has the responsibility to understand and places in practice appropriate safety procedures. This responsibility is achieved through education, training, use of protective equipment (as applicable) and by following safety policies, regulations, standards, and laws.

Job description

The primary role of the Shipping & Receiving Lead position is to ensure products are properly shipped, received, and stored. This position must have the ability to effectively communicate and lead Shipping & Receiving Levels 2 and 3. The Shipping & Receiving Lead position is essential in providing quality products by following company procedures, maintaining a safe environment, and being an example to other employees through performance and attendance.

The Shipping & Receiving Lead position is expected to follow detailed instructions, complete repetitive tasks, and work independently of others. They are responsible for ensuring raw materials are properly received, stored, and shipped, monitoring and documenting processes through handwritten and electronic means, and maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment.

The Shipping & Receiving Lead position follows all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and works in a manner consistent with all corporate, regulatory, quality, and sanitation requirements.

Preferred Education:
  • High School Diploma and/or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Work can be performed within a manufacturing plant environment with noise, extreme temperatures, and significant movement of powered equipment, people and conveyor (may depend on the role).
  • Work conditions are typical of a food manufacturing facility.
  • This role does not require any domestic travel.
  • Position may require the physical agility of lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Position may require frequent and/or infrequent of bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, stretching/reaching, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, controls and standing/walking on concrete flooring.
  • Position may require the physical ability to stand/walk for greater than 4 hours.
