Job summary

Sundt Construction in Phoenix seeks a Safety Leader to integrate corporate safety programs and manage field safety for projects. You will lead development and enforcement of Safety Policies, mentor teams, and interface with project management and safety groups to drive injury prevention.

The role requires 15+ years in safety leadership in construction, CHST, OSHA/MSHA instructor capabilities, and strong MS Office skills. Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

  • 15 years in a leadership position managing self‑perform safety programs in construction.
  • CHST required, CSP preferred.
  • OSHA, MSHA, First-aid/CPR‑AED instructor capabilities required; NCCER Safety Trainer desired.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite programs.

Responsibilities

  • Aid with development of safety training aspects of FLS and craft training programs.
  • Prepare project specific Safety Management Plans.
  • Interface with local clinics to align injury management and light duty programs.
  • Assist with implementation of behavioral based safety programs.
  • Compile and maintain divisional safety records.
  • Develop and maintain safety metrics reports for site inspections and non-conformance.
  • Coordinate with owner and partners on safety program alignment.
  • Support safety related strategic planning efforts.
  • Perform on‑site audits to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
  • Lead OSHA and MSHA interface for projects.
  • Lead subcontractor and JV safety programs.
  • Review RFQ safety items and summarize for sales/estimators.
  • Provide leadership on Injury/Case management for the division.

Job Summary

To effectively integrate corporate support, personnel, and programs to meet the objectives of the company and the group. Responsible for the development, maintenance and enforcement of the Safety Policy & procedures as required for the group. Responsible to interface and support the Project management & Safety teams on group projects and to provide safety leadership as required to these teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Aid with the development of the safety training aspects of our FLS and craft training programs.
  • Aid with preparation of project specific Safety Management Plans.
  • Aid with project set up and interface with local clinics to ensure alignment with injury management philosophy and light duty programs.
  • Assist with implementation of behavioral based safety programs.
  • Compile and maintain divisional safety records.
  • Develop and maintain safety metrics report for status of site inspections, non‑conformance, etc.
  • Help interface with owner and key partners regarding coordination of safety programs.
  • Participate in activities to support the company and group’s safety related strategic planning efforts.
  • Perform on‑site audits to ensure compliance with company, group, and project safety requirements.
  • Provide leadership and management of OSHA and MSHA related interface as needed for the projects.
  • Provide leadership with management of Subcontractor and JV safety programs.
  • Review RFQ packages for safety related items that would add extra costs to a proposal, and prepare a summary of these items for sales engineers and/or estimators.
  • Provide leadership and follow‑through regarding Injury/Case management for the division.
Minimum Job Requirements
  • 15 years in a leadership position managing self‑perform safety programs in construction.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.
  • CHST required, CSP preferred.
  • OSHA, MSHA, First‑aid/CPR‑AED instructor capabilities required; NCCER Safety Trainer desired.
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist frequently.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis.
  • May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects frequently.
  • Will interact with people frequently during a shift/workday.
  • Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis.
  • Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/workday.
  • Will work various shifts, including swing, night and weekend.
