Job summary

YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region in Colorado Springs, CO seeks a Group Exercise Instructor to lead diverse fitness classes including senior fitness, HIIT, yoga, and more. You will create a supportive community, deliver engaging music, and enforce safety rules to foster member retention.

Responsibilities include planning workouts, recording attendance, arranging substitutes, and maintaining certifications while serving participants of all ages with positive energy and supervision during sessions.

Qualifications

• Current Nationally Recognized Group Exercise Professional
• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• CPR/AED, First Aid and Oxygen certifications preferred or provided upon employment
• 18+ years old with ability to teach diverse groups
• Experience leading group exercise classes is preferred
• Ability to modify exercises for participants with different abilities

Responsibilities

• Lead Group Exercise Classes with excellent customer service and member retention
• Create community during sessions and maintain a welcoming atmosphere
• Provide music that meets YMCA standards
• Enforce rules and policies to ensure safety
• Record and maintain attendance records
• Set up facility or equipment and store afterwards
• Prepare exercise plans including warm-up, work phase and cooldown
• Secure qualified substitutes when needed
• Demonstrate modifications for various conditions/injuries
• Act as first responder for injuries or emergencies
• Report injuries and complete required forms
• Support YMCA policies and member inquiries
• Attend in-service meetings and maintain certifications
