Job summary

YMCA of Honolulu is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor for the Nu'uanu YMCA in Honolulu, Hawaii. You will lead safe, effective workouts and provide high-quality customer service while representing the YMCA.

Under supervision of the Group Exercise Coordinator or Healthy Lifestyles Director, you will schedule classes, arrange substitutes, and maintain a positive, inclusive environment for all participants.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of designing, conducting, and implementing safe and effective group exercise classes.
• Knowledge of general health and wellness.
• Experience in health/fitness field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teaches assigned class(es) or ensures coverage; starts and ends class on time.
• Finds substitutes at least 1 week prior to date of request.
• Informs Director or Coordinator of substitutions by email, text or phone 1 week in advance.
• Substitutes for other instructors when possible.
• Keeps teaching to 10 classes per week maximum.
• Gives modifications to meet needs of all levels.
• Communicates with members about Group Exercise program and classes.
• Develops relationships with members and provides encouragement.
