Job summary

The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Chicago seeks a Group Exercise Instructor. You will deliver engaging, safe group fitness classes aligned with members’ goals and foster a motivating environment for all levels.

Role requires two+ years teaching group exercise, CPR/First Aid/AED credentials, and current certifications where required. Reports to Fitness Center Manager; non-exempt, pay grade 203, $25.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Associate or BA in Sports/Physical Education, or related field preferred.
• Two or more years of experience teaching group exercise classes and working with fitness equipment.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required.
• Current credentials/certificates/licensing as required by position.
• Experience with computer-based work environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in assigned group exercise subject/area.
• Be on time and prepared to teach class; deliver state-of-the-art instruction.
• Develop and instruct fun, energetic classes for all fitness levels.
• Teach beginners through advanced learners in fitness programs.
• Provide guidelines for development of fitness programs and evaluate outcomes.
• Maintain a professional demeanor with participants and staff.
• Ensure classroom changes are communicated to participants.
• Carry out program evaluations as directed.
• Maintain safe learning environment and implement safety measures.

Education

Associate or BA in Sports/Physical Education, or related field of study preferred

Two or more years experience teaching various or specific group exercise classes and working with fitness equipment

CPR, First Aid, and AED required

Must have current credentials and/or certificates and /or license, if required
