The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for delivering safe, engaging, and professional group exercise classes in a variety of class environments. This position provides high-quality instructions, motivates participants to achieve their fitness goals, and delivers exceptional member experience by fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and positive experience for all members.
No supervisory responsibilities are required.
While performing the duties of this job, the Group Fitness Instructor is regularly required to use hands to handle, grasp, or operate equipment and controls; reach hands and arms, and communicate effectively through speaking and hearing. The role requires sustained physical activity at levels exceeding normal resting conditions, placing significant demand on the cardiovascular, respiratory, and musculoskeletal systems. The instructor must be able to demonstrate exercises, lead fitness classes, and frequently lift, carry, or move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
The work environment is primarily a fitness facility setting and may include exposure to elevated noise levels due to amplified music used during group fitness classes. Classroom locations may vary based on facility scheduling and room availability. Classes may be conducted in spaces with different flooring surfaces, including hardwood floors, fitness studio flooring, or carpeted areas. Instructors must be able to safely and effectively lead classes and demonstrate exercises in these varying environments while maintaining clear communication with participants.
