Job summary

Fitchburg State University Athletics & Recreation is seeking part-time group fitness instructors to lead group fitness classes at the campus recreation facilities. Instructors are responsible for delivering engaging sessions, ensuring participant safety, and promoting correct exercise techniques.

The position offers a $25.00 hourly rate with a varied schedule. Previous teaching experience and CPR/AED certification are preferred. Fitchburg State University is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Ability to conduct safe and effective classes.
• Prior experience teaching/leading group fitness classes.
• Knowledge in techniques and dynamics of group fitness.
• Able to work a minimum number of hours per week (ideally at least two classes per week).
• Knowledge of strength training and/or cardiovascular exercise.
• Good communication skills.
• Must be reliable and dependable.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and fun environment for participants
• Provide good customer service to all participants
• Demonstrate and promote knowledge of proper group fitness components - warm up, aerobic exercise, flexibility, cool down, etc.
• Assist with maintenance of group fitness equipment and storage areas
• Awareness of Recreation policies and procedures that pertain toGroup Fitness
• Enforce facility and program policies
• Assist with special events when possible

Fitchburg State University Athletics & Recreation

Group Fitness instructors are an integral part of the Athletics& Recreation team. Instructors are responsible for leadinggroup fitness classes that may range in category and difficultylevel. This may include choreography, counting, cueing andmore.

General Duties include:

• Provide a safe and fun environment for participants
• Provide good customer service to all participants
• Demonstrate and promote knowledge of proper group fitnesscomponents - warm up, aerobic exercise, flexibility, cool down,etc.
• Assist with maintenance of group fitness equipment and storageareas
• Awareness of Recreation policies and procedures that pertain toGroup Fitness

Requirements:

Preferred Qualifications include:

• National Fitness Certification (ACE, ACSM, AFAA, etc.)
• Have current certification for specific class format
• CPR/AED certification
• Available to work over winter break

Additional Information:

This is a part-time, non-benefited position with a varied schedule.Hourly rate $25.00.
