Qualifications

• Ability to screen or counsel clients with substance abuse, anger, or domestic violence.
• Completes 20 hours of annual training, including 8 hours on domestic violence.
• Training in DUI laws and treatment standards; DV services require 6 months offender experience.

Overview

Counseling facilitators for Arizona Behavioral Counseling are responsible for conducting screenings, individual and/or group counseling sessions, and education classes for clients enrolled in programs offered by Arizona Behavioral Counseling.

For treatment programs, counselors complete intake sessions, write individual treatment plans, document all client contact, monitor and evaluate client progress, and write progress reports and discharge summaries. All duties are performed under the direction of the quality assurance team, a clinical supervisor, and the Director.

Qualifications

1. Is at least 21 years of age.
2. Holds a CPR card and First Aid card no older than 2 years, and maintains these certifications throughout employment.
3. Holds a license from the AZ Board of Behavioral Health or has a Masters, Bachelors, or Associates degree in a behavioral health field, or has a high school degree/equivalent with coursework and at least 2 years of behavioral health experience.
4. Has the skills and knowledge necessary to screen or counsel clients with issues including substance abuse, anger, and/or domestic violence.
5. Completes 20 hours of training per calendar year, including 8 hours related to domestic violence, and stays current with annual trainings.
6. Has training in DUI laws and DUI treatment standards and chemical dependency. Provisional requirement: if providing DV services, must have 6 months prior experience working with offenders.
