Job summary

YMCA of the Sandhills in Fayetteville, NC is seeking a part-time Wellness Coordinator to lead the group exercise program. You will recruit, hire, train, and supervise instructors, and shape the schedule to meet member needs while ensuring safe, engaging classes.

This role focuses on member engagement and program quality in alignment with the YMCA mission. Responsibilities include coaching instructors, maintaining records, and promoting wellness activities across departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor degree in exercise science, health and wellness, recreation, physical education, or related field preferred.
• Experience in group exercise, fitness, wellness programming, or a related field.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates qualified group exercise instructors.
• Provides ongoing coaching, support, communication, and professional development to instructors to maintain high-quality programming.
• Develops and maintains the group exercise schedule based on member needs and facility availability.
• Evaluates classes using attendance, participation trends, and feedback to determine offerings and scheduling.
