Compensation ranges from $30 to $45 per hour, depending on experience, certifications, and education; a free membership is included and a supportive culture encourages growth and teamwork within the gym.

Qualifications

• CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are required.
• National certification in group fitness instruction (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise.
• YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 60 days of hire.
• At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead energizing, safe, and educational group classes to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
• Answer member questions to support healthy living goals and stay current on wellness trends.
• Build authentic relationships with members and help connect them with the YMCA community.
• Maintain accurate class attendance records.
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures and respond to emergencies.

The West Suburban YMCA is seeking an energetic and motivating Bootcamp/HIIT/HYROX-style instructor to lead high-intensity, results-driven group exercise classes. This role is responsible for delivering safe, engaging, and inclusive workouts that promote member wellness, build community, and support participants in achieving their fitness goals.

$30-$45, depending on experience, certifications and education. This opportunity is available at both Wells Ave and Church Street!

POSITION SUMMARY:

Instructs group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• 1. Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
• 2. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
• 3. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
• 4. Keeps accurate class attendance records.
• 5. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1. Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED, national certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification.
• 2. Certification in areas of expertise.
• 3. YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 60 days of hire.
• 4. At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• 1. Ability to conduct classes and activities.
• 2. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
