Job summary

Oak Brook Park District is seeking a part-time Group Exercise Instructor with experience in cardio, dance, and strength classes. You will plan and teach safe, fun workouts for all levels and follow professional guidelines to ensure client safety and progress.

Responsibilities include fitness assessments, keeping records, maintaining equipment, and supporting the Fitness Manager with orientation for members. Weekend/evening availability is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or Higher is required.
• Must possess a NASM/ACSM/NSCA/ACE or other nationally accredited personal training certification.
• Valid Illinois Driver's License (Class D) and CPR/AED/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within one month.

• Create and lead safe, effective group exercise classes for all levels.
• Perform fitness assessments and monitor client progress.

Job description

Are you a versitle group exercise instructor? We are looking for a part-time group exercise instructor with experience with cardio, dance, strength, and more classes for Monday-Friday afternoon and evening and Saturday mornings.

Come join the team at the Oak Brook Park District responsible for keeping people healthy and reaching their goals. As a Group Exercise Instructor, you will be responsible for the planning and instructing of safe, fun and effective fitness classes to all levels and abilities, and following professional industry guidelines and parameters.

Group exercise instructors also perform fitness analysis/assessments on all clients and re-evaluate clients to monitor progress, remain current with fitness trends, programs and training, and are responsible for managing and maintaining fitness equipment and class attendance. This position also supports the Fitness Manager in providing fitness equipment orientation services for members. Weekends and evenings are preferred for work hours, but group exercise instructors can teach class during any open hours.

Education, Experience and Training:

• High School Degree or Higher
• Valid Illinois State Driver's License (Class D)
• Must possess at least 2-3 years of experience in personal training and be able to communicate
  effectively with clientele.
• Must possess a personal training certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine
  (NASM), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Strength and Condition
  Association (NSCA), American Council on Exercise (ACE) or other nationally accredited certification.
• Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification or ability to become certified by the Park District within one month of employment.

Essential Job Duties:

• Create and implement a safe and effective exercise class, following professional industry guidelines and parameters.
• Perform a fitness analysis/assessment on clients and re-evaluate clients to monitor progress.
• Remain current with fitness trends, programs and training.
• Responsible for managing and maintaining schedules and finding substitutes when unavailable.
• Follow the Park District Trainer’s Manual and Procedures.
• Attend all mandatory staff meetings
• Actively market, promote and advertise group exercise services.
• Support the Fitness Manager in providing fitness equipment orientation services for members.
• Responsible for retaining detailed records of class attendance and program outlines.
• Follow and adhere to the Park District’s employee policies.
• Focus on welcoming diversity, encouraging inclusion and creating equity for all.
• Support the District’s safety initiative including adhering to policies and procedures, performing your job in a safe manner, attending required training, seeking additional training as needed, promptly reporting accidents/incidents, and proactively addressing hazards in the workplace
