Carnegie Mellon University's department of Athletics is seeking a Part-Time Fitness Instructor to join its recreational and fitness program. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic and challenging environment. The instructor will lead patrons in group fitness classes designed to improve overall fitness, strength, and endurance while ensuring safety. Qualified candidates should be able to instruct classes such as yoga, strength training, indoor cycling, Pilates, and Zumba.
Lead and instruct participants in proper exercise techniques, evaluate their abilities, and ensure a safe environment. Demonstrate correct form and technique.
Maintain cleanliness and order of the exercise space before, during, and after classes. Ensure all equipment is functional.
Manage class rosters and communicate effectively using DSE software systems.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Strong communication skills
High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
0-1 year of teaching/instruction experience required; 1-3 years preferred.
Nationally recognized certification in instruction required.
CPR/First Aid/AED certification required.
Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
Successful background check.
Child Protection Clearances (Act 153).
Sponsorship: Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. CMU does not sponsor visas for this position. Only the 12-month OPT is applicable for international students.
