Job summary

Western YMCA in Newark, DE is seeking a part-time Group Exercise Instructor to lead engaging classes that support healthy living and community wellbeing. You will answer member questions, build relationships, and help participants connect with the YMCA’s programs and services.

The role requires CPR & First Aid certification and attendance in a basic instructor training or specialty certification. Compensation reflects experience, with a pay range shown and growth opportunities within the

• CPR & First Aid Certified.
• Must have completed a Basic Instructor Training Course and/or completed one specialty certification.

• Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
• Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.
• Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Keeps accurate class attendance records.

Rate of pay: $16.50 - $25.00 Final compensation is based on factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.

• Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
• Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Keeps accurate class attendance records.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community
• CPR & First Aid Certified
• Must have completed a Basic Instructor Training Course and/or completed one specialty certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Multi-lingual skills
• National Group Exercise Certification (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, or NETA) and/or BS in related field
