Job summary

The YMCA of Delaware is seeking a part-time Group Exercise Instructor at the Bear Glasgow Family YMCA in Newark, DE. You will lead energizing, safe, and educational group classes and help members pursue healthy living with guidance from the supervisor.  You will answer member questions, foster community, and maintain attendance records while promoting the YMCA mission.

Required are instructor training and CPR/First Aid certification; preferred are multiple certifications or a BS in a

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community.
• CPR & First Aid certified.
• Basic Instructor Training Course and/or one specialty certification completed.

Responsibilities

• Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
• Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
• Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Keeps accurate class attendance records.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community

Preferred Qualifications

• Multi-lingual skills
• National Group Exercise Certification (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, or NETA) and/or BS in related field
