Position Overview

We are seeking a Group Engineering Manager to lead our Controls & Automation engineering team, focusing on BMS, EPMS, and PLC/HMI/SCADA programming. This role oversees delivery of automation solutions for data centers and critical facilities, ensuring engineering excellence and customer satisfaction.

You will manage a multidisciplinary team, provide strategic project direction, and collaborate to expand automation solutions across complex projects.

Location

Remote role, but candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL, Tulsa, OK, or West-Central TX.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Technical and Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing controls engineering team, fostering a culture of rigor and continuous improvement.
  2. Engineering Strategy & Standards: Define and enforce best practices, standards, and methodologies for controls projects.
  3. Project Oversight: Ensure successful execution of automation projects, aligning with scope, schedule, and budget.
  4. Design & Programming Governance: Review and approve key project deliverables, support risk mitigation.
  5. Client Engagement: Act as a senior technical liaison, translating client needs into engineering strategies.
  6. Mentorship: Support career growth and technical development of engineers.
  7. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with project management, procurement, and operations teams.
Minimum Requirements
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  2. Collaborative mindset
  3. 10+ years in controls and automation engineering, including experience with BMS/EPMS and PLC/HMI/SCADA platforms
  4. 5+ years in leadership or management roles
  5. Experience with data center or industrial automation projects
  6. Knowledge of system integration, commissioning, and networking
  7. Familiarity with communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, OPC, SNMP)
  8. Proven team management and mentorship experience
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience with automation frameworks or reusable code libraries
  2. Knowledge of electrical coordination and cybersecurity in ICS environments
  3. Certifications (PMP, PE, Niagara 4, Ignition)
  4. Experience in Design-Build or EPC projects
  5. Willingness to travel (up to 25%)

  • Ability to stand, lift 50 lbs., navigate stairs/ladders
