Fordham University is seeking a Groundsperson to maintain campus grounds, roadways, walkways, and landscapes across its campuses. The role performs mowing, trimming, leaf removal, trash collection, pruning, planting, fertilizing, and basic tree care while supporting indoor/outdoor events.
The position requires a High School diploma, at least 2 years of grounds experience, and a valid NYS driver’s license. Work Tue–Sat, 6:00 am–2:30 pm, with union Local 810 affiliation.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Grounds and Transportation, the Groundsperson performs tasks in the maintenance of park grounds, equipment, street medians, trees, and other landscaped areas.
This position requires work hours from Tuesday to Saturday, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm.
Essential Functions
Maintains all campus grounds, including roadways, walkways, parking lots, and landscape.
Mows lawns, trims weeds, and rakes leaves as assigned.
Picks up and removes trash prior to mowing a designated area.
Empties trash and recycling containers.
Trims bushes, shrubs, and hedges.
Assists in preparing soil and planting flowers, bushes, hedges, or shrubs.
Plants trees and prunes them when necessary.
Maintains, cuts, and removes trees as needed.
Applies fertilizer and herbicides as directed.
Completes snow removal tasks such as shoveling sidewalks, steps, and campus entrances as needed during the winter months.
Operates snow blower or snow plow to clear roads, driveways, and parking lots.
Performs routine checklist on power equipment.
Sets up items and other equipment as required for indoor and outdoor events.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in grounds or other related duties.

Extensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes.
Knowledge of standard tools of the trade and operation of power plant equipment.
Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles.
