Job summary

Knife River Corporation in Burnet, TX is seeking a Groundman to support daily plant and yard operations. Typical hours are Monday–Friday 6:00 AM–6:00 PM with possible Saturday work; hours may vary with weather and customer demand.

Responsibilities include plant/yard maintenance, housekeeping, and safe operation of basic tools. Overtime and flexible hours are common in this role, with opportunities to contribute to a strong community presence.

Responsibilities

• Ensure daily maintenance of the plant and yard.
• Perform routine housekeeping to keep plant and yard clean.
• Safely perform maintenance such as lubrication, fueling and cleaning.
• Shovel excess material away from processing areas.
• Operate small powered hand tools as needed.
• Lift, carry and hold materials, tools and supplies.
• Assist with daily errands and deliver parts between Knife River locations.

Role Overview

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for ensuring daily maintenance of the plant and yard is completed.
• Responsible for routine and daily housekeeping duties to ensure a clean plant and yard.
• Safely and properly, maintenance (lubricating, fueling and cleaning).
• Shovel excess material away from crusher, screen or wash plant areas.
• May operate small, powered hand tools.
• Lifting, carrying and holding material, tools and supplies.
• Help with daily errands as needed; deliver parts/items between Knife River locations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Basic knowledge of plant operation, conveyor systems, and maintenance.
• Experience working around plants and or rock crushers
• Must have good mechanical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Need positive attitude and the ability to work well with others and follow directions.
• Equipment operation skills helpful.
• Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (daytime/nighttime).

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

• Extensive walking on uneven surfaces.
• May Lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
• Exposure to dust, fumes, odors.
• Hand eye coordination.
• Exposure to mists, adhesives, acids.
• Frequent and/or extended periods requiring kneeling, bending, and/or twisting.
• Working in all weather conditions for extended period of time
