Job summary

Aramark seeks a Groundskeeping Lead at Florida International University in Miami to maintain and improve campus grounds, following sustainability guidelines. You will supervise tasks, guide newer staff, and ensure safety compliance while operating landscape equipment.

The role requires experience in groundskeeping, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work in varied weather conditions. This is a fulltime on-site position at FIU.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of groundskeeping or horticulture experience.
• Non-commercial driver's license required.
• Knowledge of groundskeeping principles and power landscape equipment.
• Ability to follow safety procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Able to work in extreme temperatures and independently.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and improves facility grounds based on sustainability guidelines.
• Applies planned designs to resolve landscaping needs.
• Performs tasks such as planting, mowing, weeding, fertilizing, sweeping, raking, salting, shoveling snow, removing ice, etc.
• Operates equipment including power mowers, saws, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, sprayers.
• May operate trucks, tractors and attachments used to maintain grounds as needed.
• Responsible for cleaning and upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, etc.
• Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on lawn equipment and tools.
• Ensures compliance with safety policies and reports malfunctions/defects to supervisor.
• Trains, guides and fields questions from newer staff on duties and safety.
• Performs grounds audits and uses information to improve efficiency and quality.
