Job summary

Barnard College in New York City invites applications for a Groundskeeper role with a Tuesday–Saturday shift (7:00am–3:30pm) and Sundays/Mondays off. The position reports to the Facilities Services department and involves cleaning sidewalks and grounds, lawn care, planting, and snow removal as part of campus maintenance.

The role requires at least two years in groundskeeping or an equivalent training/experience and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time experience in grounds and gardening work or equivalent training/experience.

• A qualifying exam may be conducted.

Responsibilities

• Sweep or clean sidewalks, tree pits, campus walks, lawns, flowerbeds, terraces and gravel areas.
• Empty exterior trash receptacles and maintain cleanliness of grounds.
• Relamp exterior light fixtures and perform lawn/gardening duties (seeding, cutting, raking, watering, cultivating, fertilizing, spraying, pruning).
• Snow removal on campus perimeter and interior areas.
• Operate hand/power tools and motorized equipment as needed.
