Job summary

The Town of Acton is hiring a full-time Groundskeeper in the Department of Public Works. The role involves operating and maintaining landscaping and tree work equipment, applying chemicals, and supporting other divisions as needed.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of arboriculture/landscaping experience. Certifications in pesticides, hoisting, and OSHA-10 are preferred; CDL-B and additional licenses are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED equivalency required.
• Minimum of one year experience working in arboriculture/landscaping or other similar work and equipment operation experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mowing, landscaping, roadside and tree work equipment.
• Apply pesticides and fertilizers.
• Install and maintain trees and landscapes; supervise/train seasonal and part-time staff.
• Assist other divisions as directed; respond to emergencies (storm damage, snow/ice).
• Perform heavy lifting up to 100 pounds and manual labor; collect and dispose of animal carcasses on town property.
