Your Purpose:

The Groundskeeper performs grounds maintenance on a large municipal golf course and does related work as required. Work is performed under the supervision of the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. Work schedule may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

What You’ll Do:
  • Perform general park maintenance including mowing, edging, pruning, trimming, spraying, watering, chemical treatment, planting, and general care of grass, plants, and trees.
  • Operate tractors and various power equipment to mow and maintain the golf course.
  • Rake and edge sand traps.
  • Prepare seed beds, lay sod, spread seed, lime, fertilizer, and straw.
  • Weed, mulch, prepare plant beds, and plant flowers.
  • Assist in irrigation repairs, erosion control, and drain line installation.
  • Hand water greens, set up hoses and sprinklers, and under supervision, operate automatic irrigation systems.
  • Clean and perform maintenance on equipment.
  • Change cup settings, move tee markers, and pick up trash.
  • Perform general maintenance as required.
  • Ensure all work complies with OSHA and City safety standards and policies.
What You'll Bring:

Please ensure you meet the following minimum qualifications before applying:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of experience with trade tools and equipment
  • Understanding of safety regulations and OSHA standards
  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License

Physical Requirements:
  • Hearing/Speaking: Necessary for communication and safety.
  • Visual Abilities: Including acuity, depth perception, and field of vision for monitoring activities and operating equipment.
  • Physical Strength: Medium to heavy work involving exerting force, walking, standing, reaching, climbing, and other physical activities.
Mental Activity/Requirements:
  • Reasoning: Applying logical thinking and good judgment in work tasks.
  • Mathematics: Applying arithmetic in work processes.
  • Language: Ability to speak, read, and write English.
Environmental Conditions:
  • Outdoor work in various weather conditions, including wet, dirty, and hot or cold environments.
  • Exposure to trash, chemicals, and debris, following OSHA standards.
Equipment Used:
  • Push mowers, riding mowers, tractors, chainsaws, hand tools, and others related to ground maintenance.
