Job summary

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Groundskeeper in the Facilities Maintenance Division to maintain lawns, shrubs, and irrigation systems on Broward County facilities and properties. Duties include mowing, planting, fertilizing, trimming, operating mowers and tools, and supervising subordinate workers as needed.

Requires three months of landscape maintenance experience and a valid Florida Class E Driver's License; preferred licenses in grounds-keeping and irrigation.

Qualifications

• Requires three (3) months of landscape maintenance or closely related experience.
• Valid Florida Class E Driver's License based on area of assignment.
• Broward County Tree Trimmer License or related grounds-keeping certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Mows grass; plants and transplants shrubs; fertilizes lawn and plants; trims bushes and trees; sprays lawns and shrubs to control pests.
• Operates power mowers, trimmers, sprayers, chain saws, and other tools; maintains equipment in good working condition.
• Rakes and removes grass cuttings and leaves; sweeps adjacent streets and walkways; loads and unloads soil, sand, sod, rock, gravel and other ground covering materials.
• Supervises the activities of subordinate workers assigned to assist in gardening and grounds keeping.
• Performs related work as assigned.
