Job summary

The Utah State Developmental Center in American Fork is seeking a Groundskeeper II (USDC) to maintain lawns, plants, and landscaping. You will perform mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, and assist with sprinkler systems, contributing to safe, clean grounds for state facilities.

This role requires physical endurance and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, operate hand tools and equipment, and potentially apply pesticides/herbicides.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to operate a variety of hand tools and automotive equipment.
• 3 years of landscaping and grounds care experience.
• 1 year experience with pesticides/herbicides.
• 1 year irrigation systems experience.
• Utah Pesticide Applicator's license or willingness to earn within 6 months.
• Reside within 50 miles or 1 hour travel time to location.

Responsibilities

• Mow, rake, water, and fertilize lawns.
• Plant, transplant, water, fertilize, and trim flowers and shrubs.
• Assist with sprinkler system maintenance.
• Assist with maintenance of lawnmowers, snow blowers, and small groundskeeping equipment.
• May apply herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, fertilizers, and other chemicals.
• Lead other groundskeepers in supervisory roles.
• Remove snow.
• Work requires strenuous physical exertion.
