Bibb County School District is seeking a Groundskeeper I to maintain grounds across Bibb County Schools in Macon, GA. This full-time role supports safe, clean, well-kept outdoor spaces for students and staff.

The position involves lawn mowing, irrigation, plant care, and minor equipment maintenance, with some supervision of temporary workers. Salary ranges from $29,081.50 to $31,586.20 per year, plus benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent; related experience acceptable.
• Knowledge of maintenance equipment and lawn care operations.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions; good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Mows grass, waters lawns, maintains shrubs and flowerbeds; inspects grounds for safety and cleanliness.
• Operates lawn and grounds equipment (mowers, loaders, power tools).
• Repairs and maintains campus walks and parking areas; maintains exterior landscaping.
• Plans and maintains landscaping according to plan; trims and plants as required.
• Removes refuse, enforces safety at the work site; may supervise student workers.
• Prepares athletic fields; performs general upkeep of facilities and ancillary structures.
• Performs minor mechanical work, adjusts equipment, and orders supplies as needed.
• May apply pesticides; participates in inspections and safety compliance.
