Qualifications

• Six months of landscaping or grounds keeping experience.
• Knowledge of basic gardening, pruning and lawn irrigation.
• Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions; work independently.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a Nevada driver license.
• AHERA 16 Hour asbestos training and OSHA Lead Action Training; employer provides training.

Responsibilities

• Plants, mows, trims, weeds, fertilizes and irrigates lawns, flower beds and fields; cuts and lays sod; trims shrubs, hedges and trees.
• Cleans and repairs sprinkler heads; assists in installing or repairing sprinkler systems; repairs fences and posts; patches asphalt areas and paints curbs and markings.
• Assembles, installs, safety checks and repairs playground and athletic equipment; resurfaces tracks and marks fields for games and practices.
• Operates mowers, tractors, backhoes, graders, trucks and related equipment; loads and transports equipment and supplies; performs basic repairs on small engines.
• The incumbent may be called upon to respond to school emergencies after hours (burglaries, vandalism, fires, snow removal, etc.).
