Job summary

Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation is seeking a landscape and grounds maintenance technician to support parks, building sites, roadways, athletic fields, and the municipal center. You'll operate mowers, engage hand tools, load materials, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.

The role is full-time, outdoors in varied weather, with scheduling seven days per week including some evenings, weekends, and holidays. A valid DL is required and pre-employment screening applies.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds/landscape maintenance.
• Ability to work outdoors in a physical trade.
• Customer service experience.
• HSD or GED and/or trade schooling related to horticulture.

Responsibilities

• Operate lawn mowers and other motorized equipment.
• Use handheld tools and prune, fertilize, and spray as needed.
• Plant installation and maintenance of beds, turf, and walkways.
• Load/unload materials and dispose of debris; lift 50 lbs+.

Schedules will be adjusted seasonally and will vary weekly based on events, facility coverage, and weather.
