Job summary

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa is seeking a Grounds Maintenance team member to care for the exterior grounds and facilities. The role involves mowing, trimming, pruning, irrigation, snow removal, and light repairs to keep the property safe and attractive.

You will operate lawn equipment, assist with setup for events, and follow all regulatory and company policies. A valid driver's license and reliable teamwork are essential for daily responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of landscaping chemicals (pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers).

Responsibilities

• Operate mower, trimmers, snow blowers, vacuums, power washers, and all gardening tools for cleanliness and maintenance.
• Perform routine cleaning and minor repairs; assist in demolition, paving, and construction projects.
• Ensure proper cleaning, storage and maintenance of department equipment.
• Handle landscaping duties including pruning, irrigation, planting, and weeding.
• Assist in movement of office equipment and event set-ups as required.

Job Description:

Reporting directly to the Facilities Supervisor, this position maintains grounds and facilities as assigned by cleaning, mowing, trimming, weeding, sweeping, trash collecting, code green processing and snow/ice control. This position also performs minor repairs of grounds and equipment. The incumbent for this position is responsible for the safe and efficient use of department equipment and for minor maintenance of equipment

Role Responsibilities:

• Must be able to operate mower, trimmers, snow blowers, vacuums, power washers, and all gardening tools to ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility's property.
• Performs routine cleaning, project cleaning (mopping, spot cleaning, signage/light fixtures/vents, etc.), minor repairs, snow removal, scrap removal, and preventive maintenance.
• Assist facilities in demolition, concrete, asphalt and other construction projects.
• Responsible for the proper cleaning, storage and maintenance of department equipment.
• Performs all landscaping duties (e.g., pruning, irrigation, raking, planting, weeding, etc.).
• Assist in the movement of office equipment and furniture & event set-ups when required.
• Adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies in a professional and ethical manner.
• Ability to learn and comply with the laws and regulations affecting the casino industry.
• Excellent customer and employee relations skills

• General knowledge of pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers used in landscaping and turf systems
