Job summary

Sumter School District is seeking a Maintenance/Custodial/Grounds Worker for Hillcrest Middle School. The role focuses on inspecting grounds, maintaining athletic facilities, and ensuring safe, productive outdoor operations.

The position requires ability to operate lawn equipment, perform light maintenance, and participate in required training. Applicants should be able to work outdoors eight hours a day and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

• High School Diploma preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Examines school grounds, including athletic facilities, regularly for needed improvements.
• Remains current on issues and successful practices associated with ground maintenance.
• Attends all required training.
• Operates various types of lawn machinery in a productive and safe manner and provides low level maintenance as needed.
• Trains new grounds staff on the productive and safe use of machinery.
• Able to work outside for eight hours a day (flexible schedule as required) and lift 50 pounds regularly.
