Job summary

Sumter School District in Sumter, SC is seeking a Maintenance/Custodial/Grounds Worker to care for Hillcrest Middle School grounds. The role focuses on regular inspections, safe operation of lawn equipment, and maintaining athletic facilities.

You must be able to work outdoors for eight hours, lift up to 50 pounds, and complete required training. A High School Diploma is preferred but not required; 233-day term.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Inspect school grounds and athletic facilities regularly for upkeep.

• Operate lawn machinery safely and perform basic maintenance as needed.
• Assist in training new grounds staff on machinery use.
• Work outdoors for eight hours a day and lift up to 50 pounds.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Examinesschool grounds, to include athletic facilities, on a regular basis for needed improvement.
• Remains current on issues and successful practices associated with ground maintenance.
• Attends all required training.
• Mustoperate various types of lawn machinery in a productive and safe manner and provide low level maintenance as needed.
• Trains new grounds men on the productive and safe use of machinery.
• Must be able to work outside for eight (8) hours a day (flexible schedule as may be required) and lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.

TERMS: 233 DAYS.
