Job summary

L'Anse Creuse Public Schools is seeking a facilities maintenance worker in Michigan to perform mechanical maintenance and repair on grounds equipment, tools and systems. You will support day-to-day grounds operations, including mowing, trimming, snow removal and field prep; assist in custodial tasks as needed.

Responsibilities cover equipment upkeep, safety checks and records, and minor repairs on tractors, loaders, mowers and related gear. CDL-A and pesticide licensure required within 90 days.

Qualifications

• CDL-A endorsement must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Pesticide license must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Must be able to drive heavy equipment including HI-Low, Tractor and Front Loader.

Responsibilities

• Examine equipment needing repair to determine parts.
• Perform grounds maintenance, mow lawns, trim bushes and trees.
• Remove snow and ice from roadways and parking lots.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in clean, safe condition.
• Maintain seasonal grounds work within Head Custodian boundaries.
• Check playgrounds and advise on repairs; supervise safety.
• Prepare athletic fields and maintain dugouts, bleachers and courts.
• Other duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

Performsavarietyofmechanicalmaintenanceandrepairtasksongroundsequipmentsuchas:replacing,rebuildingoroverhaulingengines,performinggeneralpreventivemaintenanceandtune-upsonengines,tractors,mowers,powersaws,snowblowers,etc.,repairingand/orrebuildingpumps,trailers,plows,saltspreaders,weedwhip,etc.

1. Examinesequipmentneedingrepairtodeterminepartsnecessary.


2. Performsgeneralgroundsmaintenanceatassignedbuildings,mowslawns,trimsandprunesbushesandtrees, applyfertilizer and removal of leaves. Patching of cement, blacktop areas.


3. Removessnowandicefromroadways,parkinglotsandassignedwalkwaysduringthewinterseason.


4. Assistsintreeremovalandtrimmingonschoolgrounds,asneeded.


5. Maintainstools,equipmentandworkareainaclean,safeandorderlycondition.


6. Maintainsvariousactivityandinventoryrecordsandprogramrelatedreportsasdirected.


7. Sprayingforlawndiseaseandinsectscontrolprovidingemployeehasproperpesticidelicenseandendorsements.


8. May serve as additional custodial help such as day custodian or head custodian when needed and as assigned.


9. Maintainseasonalgroundswork(snow,lawn)withinassignedboundariesofHeadCustodianandperformminormaintenanceandrepairtoequipment,asassigned.


10. Mustbeabletodrive-HI-Low,TractorandFrontLoader.


11. Prepares and maintains athletic fields such as mowing, prepping, stripping, chalking, repairing fence lines, adding ballfield mixes, dragging, aerating, weeding etc. Maintains dugouts, bleachers, tennis courts and other athletic areas as directed.


12. Checks playgrounds and makes minor repairs of equipment. Advises supervisor of playground repairs and needs. Checks and repairs PIP playgrounds surfacing. Empties trash cans in the playground area.


13. Other duties as assigned.


14. CDL-A endorsement and Pesticide license must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
