Job summary

Banks School District in Oregon is seeking a Groundskeeper to perform routine grounds maintenance, mowing, trimming, and general upkeep under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.

This full-time, 260-day contract offers 40 hours per week with a competitive hourly wage of $23.52–$28.92 and a generous benefits package, including vacation; successful candidates will have a high school diploma and experience in groundskeeping.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or the equivalent.
• 1–3 years of satisfactory maintenance/grounds experience.
• Experience in groundskeeping equipment maintenance or mechanical repair.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
• Valid Oregon driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
• Ability to work with students, parents, staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work harmoniously with others.

Responsibilities

• Perform groundskeeping duties in all seasons using power tools and equipment.
• Mow and maintain lawns and fields with commercial equipment.
• Rake leaves, prune plants, trees and shrubs; care for plants.
• Maintain tools and equipment used in grounds maintenance.
• Operate light gas-powered equipment and transport supplies as needed.
• Assist other maintenance workers in plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry, or repair tasks.
• Understand and apply standard grounds maintenance concepts and procedures.
• Work independently under supervisor directions; foster a respectful work environment.

GENERAL DUTIES

Performs routine maintenance and groundskeeping duties and assists other maintenance personnel in the completion of work orders and assignments.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or the equivalent
• One to three years of satisfactory employment in general maintenance, groundsand/or related skilled trade
• Experience in grounds keeping equipment maintenance, machine shop ormechanical repair
• The ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
• Hold a valid Oregon driver's license or may be required to obtain one within 6 months
• Ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds
• Ability to work harmoniously with others

JOB DESCRIPTION
