Job summary

UCLA Facilities Management seeks an outdoor maintenance worker to help preserve the health and beauty of the UCLA campus. You will manage a variety of landscape tasks across lawns, beds, courtyards and athletic fields, following safety guidelines and working with a team.

The role requires two years of horticultural experience, a valid California Driver's License, and the ability to operate common equipment. The position follows a 6:30 AM–3:00 PM, Mon–Fri schedule and offers UC benefits.

Qualifications

• Two years of horticultural experience including pest and disease identification.
• Broad knowledge of landscape plants and turf grass.
• Experience with pruning shrubs, mowing/edging, and cultivating plants.
• Ability to operate mower, edger, trimmer, shears, generator and related tools.
• Able to work in a team and also independently.
• Good spoken English for clear communication and instruction.

Salary & Compensation

Qualifications

• Horticultural Experience Two years experience in the care and treatment of a wide variety of plant life, including ability to identify horticultural pests and diseases. (Required)
• Broad knowledge in the identification and care of commonly used landscape plants and turf grass. (Required)
• Experience and working knowledge of proper methods in pruning shrubs, mowing/edging lawns and cultivating plants. (Required)
• Ability to maintain and safely operate power driven equipment, e.g., mower, edger, trimmer, shears, generator, renovator and aerifier, as well as various hand tools. (Required)
• Ability to work as part of a team through close collaboration with colleagues. (Required)
• Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments. (Required)
• Oral communication skills to obtain or convey clear, concise and grammatically correct information. (Required)
• Skill in reading standard English text in order to follow through on written orders and carry out assignments. (Required)
• Ability to write simple English text using correct grammar and spelling to complete reports, forms and work orders that are accurate and easy to comprehend. (Required)
• Working knowledge of standard safe work practices. (Required)
• Ability to maintain good attendance. (Required)

• Must possess California Driver's License, Class C, and ability to drive a University truck or other light vehicle in the course of duties. 100 (Required)
