Position Overview

The Groundskeeper, under supervision, is responsible for external grounds maintenance. Plans and administers a program of grounds and plant maintenance, including growing schedules and continued propagation through plants and cuttings. Responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the care of grasses and plants. Trims, prunes and removes scrubs, bushes and trees. Performs general janitorial duties including property inspections, landscaping and grounds maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operations Support
  • Mows, weed eats, edge and blow lawn areas weekly.
  • Trims trees, hedges, and plants to maintain neat appearance and shape.
  • Weeds and maintains flower beds weekly or as needed.
  • Daily trash pickup in assigned areas and exterior trash bins.
  • Shovels exterior walkways during wintery weather; salts or sands building entrances.
  • Maintains streets, pavement, and drainage.
Equipment Support
  • Operates mechanical, gas-powered, electrical and battery-operated machines to aid in performing grounds duties.
  • Inspects, cleans and maintains equipment and tools after each use.
  • Operates power washing of sidewalks and building entrances.
Special Projects and Reporting
  • Inspects and reports property and grounds for deficiencies and reports them to their maintenance supervisor.
  • During weather events may be assigned duties to service interior buildings.
  • Participates with on-call duties for evenings, weekends and special events.
  • Acts as service responders during emergency, weather, and catastrophic events.
  • Completes all tasks assigned by supervisor.
Communication
  • Reports broken and inoperable grounds equipment to Grounds Manager.
  • Reports inventory/supply needs to Grounds Manager.
  • Reports inventory/supply needs to Grounds Manager.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors to receive work assignments, report progress, and identify maintenance needs.

Additional Information
