Job summary

PENN Entertainment is seeking a Grounds Maintenance professional to care for lawns and exterior grounds at Hollywood Casino Charles Town. You will operate mowers, edgers, and trimmers, maintain plants, and assist with snow removal and general grounds upkeep to keep the racetrack and facilities safe and attractive.

The role requires 1 year of maintenance experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to read safety instructions in English.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess a valid driver's license which will be subject to annual DMV background checks.
• Must have 1-year maintenance experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Must qualify for a West Virginia State Racing Commission License.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintenance of lawn and/or grass using mowers, edgers, and trimmers.
• Rakes and maintains leaves, plants, flowers, trees, or shrubs.
• Cleans up trash in parking lots/garages and exterior grounds.
• Empty and clean trash containers.
• Assist in snow removal and cleanup.
• Assists in overall maintenance of grounds using equipment such as power washers, sweeper truck, lawn mowers, weed eaters, trimmers, edgers, etc.
• Fastens attachments such as grader, harrows, floats, and rollers to tractors with hitch pins.
• Releases brakes, shifts gears, and depresses accelerator or move throttle to control forward and backward movement of tractor.
• Steers tractor by turning steering wheel and depressing brake pedals.
• Assists in maintaining the integrity of the racing surface.

• Must report problems with machinery or attachments to Motor Pool.

• Assists with transportation of disabled horses.
• Raking material around the racing surface.

• Must possess a valid driver's license which will be subject to annual DMV background checks.
• Must have 1-year maintenance experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Employee must be able to qualify for a West Virginia State Racing Commission License. Must possess a valid driver's license for the state in which you reside. In addition to a pre-employment background check, this position will be subject to periodic checks of your driving record to determine your continued suitability to drive company and/or patron vehicles.
• Must have OSHA certification on machinery used by Track Maintenance.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
• The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electric shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to very loud.
