Job Summary
This position assists in the maintenance of campus grounds and landscaping. This position is designated by the Institution as Essential Personnel.
Responsibilities
- Collects trash from parking lots, sidewalks, and other areas; empties trash cans.
- Assists in the installation and repair of irrigation systems.
- Mows grass and removes weeds.
- Operates and maintains grounds equipment.
- Trims trees and hedges.
- Installs and maintains flower beds and other landscaping features.
- Applies pesticides and herbicides.
- Assists in setting‑up for special campus events.
- Performs related duties.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
Other Required Qualifications
- Must possess a current valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and pass a yearly Motor Vehicle Report review.
- Must successfully pass a pre‑employment drug test and will be subject to random drug testing.
Required Experience
At least 6 months experience.

Abilities
- Work while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching; lift light and heavy objects; climb ladders; use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
- Work outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather; may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals; use protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
- Lift 50 lbs.

- Knowledge of college policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with the work.
- Knowledge of grounds maintenance principles.

- Skill in the operation and repair of maintenance equipment.
- Skill in decision making and problem solving.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
Conditions of Employment
- Successful completion of background investigation and legal authorization to work in the U.S. prior to employment.
