Job summary

Banks School District is seeking a Groundskeeper to perform routine grounds maintenance and related tasks. The position runs 40 hours per week under a 260-day contract and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

This role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, 1–3 years in maintenance or grounds, and experience with maintenance of grounds equipment. A valid Oregon driver’s license and ability to work with diverse school communities are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform groundskeeping duties in all seasons using power tools and equipment.
• Mow and maintain lawns and fields with commercial equipment.
• Rake leaves and care for plants, trees and shrubs including pruning.
• Maintain tools and equipment used in grounds maintenance.
• Operate light gas-powered automotive equipment.
• Load, deliver and unload supplies and equipment.
• Assist other skilled maintenance workers in plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry or repairs.

GENERAL DUTIES

Performs routine maintenance and groundskeeping duties and assists other maintenance personnel in the completion of work orders and assignments.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or the equivalent
• One to three years of satisfactory employment in general maintenance, groundsand/or related skilled trade
• Experience in grounds keeping equipment maintenance, machine shop ormechanical repair
• The ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
• Hold a valid Oregon driver's license or may be required to obtain one within 6 months
• Ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds
• Ability to work harmoniously with others

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Mows and maintains lawns and fields using commercial equipment,
• Rakes and maintains leaves and cares for plants, flowers, trees and shrubs including pruning
• Maintains tools and equipment used in grounds maintenance
• Operates light gas powered automotive equipment
• Loads, delivers and unloads supplies and equipment
• Performs basic construction work in concrete, wood, metal and other applicable materials
• Assists other skilled maintenance workers performing plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry, construction or repair work
• Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures of Grounds Maintenance
• Ability to work independently, following directions of supervisor
