Responsibilities

• Follow scheduled maintenance plan for lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers, including watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, and weed control.
• Mow and detail district grounds and athletic fields.
• Plant shrubs and vegetation.
• Assist with preparing athletic fields for games, including chalking fields.
• Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from facilities.
• Assist with inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systems.
• Operate tools safely; follow safety procedures and handle lifting and climbing.
• Report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Maintain vehicles, equipment, and tools; ensure safe operation.
• Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency; perform preventive maintenance.
• Transport workers and equipment to sites across the district.
• Attend required training as directed.

Primary Purpose:
Maintain safe and attractive grounds and landscaping for the district. Maintain athletic fields.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED preferred
Clear and valid Texas driver's license

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance
Ability to read and understand instructions for maintenance and safety procedures
Ability to operate lawn care equipment and lift heavy equipment
Ability to operate power-driven equipment
Ability to respond after hours when needed
Ability to understand detailed written or oral instructions
Ability to communicate effectively

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Follow scheduled maintenance plan to care for lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, caring for beds, and controlling weeds.
• Mow and detail all district grounds, including athletic fields.
• Plant shrubs and vegetation.
• Assist with the preparation of athletic fields for games, including chalking fields.
• Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from district facilities.
• Assist with the inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systems.
• Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.
• Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
• Assist with maintaining vehicles, equipment, and tools and ensure they are in safe operating conditions.
• Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
• Transport workers and equipment to work sites throughout the district.
• Attend all required training as directed.
