Job summary

Forest Hills Public School District in Ada, Michigan is seeking a Grounds specialist to maintain the district’s property and support the education program. The role reports to the Lead Grounds / Director of Operations and offers a full-time schedule of 8 hours per day, five days a week, 52 weeks a year, with starting pay at Grade 8, from $18.49 to $24.96 per hour.

Responsibilities include turf care, basic repairs, snow removal, safety compliance, and coordination with custodial staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Possess a valid Michigan driver’s license and a good driving record.
• CDL License preferred, or willingness to obtain a CDL License.
• Possess one or more licenses in building trades.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and community.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Make routine repairs and report needs for repairs to Lead Grounds person.
• Maintain high standards of turf management with crew.
• Perform grounds duties including snow shoveling and sidewalk salting; manage grass and weed removal.
• Report hazardous conditions to Lead Grounds or Director of Operations.
• Assist with off-hour emergency calls as needed 24/7.
• Complete daily work with students, administrators, and staff.
• Maintain tools and equipment; perform repairs or installations as needed.
• Follow OSHA/MIOSHA health and safety standards.
