Job summary

Blackberry Farm is seeking a Grounds Supervisor to assist the Grounds Manager in maintaining the property, landscaping, irrigation, and outdoor amenities to preserve the five-star appearance our guests expect.

The role requires a High School Diploma or Equivalent, 2-year degree or 3 years of landscape experience, OSHA knowledge, and the ability to lead crews, multitask, and operate equipment. We offer comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth.

  • Knowledge of OSHA and safety equipment standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain property to the standards aligned with company goals.
  • Oversee maintenance of landscape areas, hardscapes, turf, fences, and water features.
  • Maintain plant material using professional horticulture practices.
  • Maintain and repair irrigation systems.
  • Coordinate herbicide applications for weed control in beds and turf.
  • Oversee exterior buildings, pool, and outdoor furniture maintenance.
  • Coordinate setup and takedown of outdoor events.

The Grounds Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Grounds Manager in the grooming, maintenance, and general upkeep of the whole property. The pay rate for this position is $20.00-$23.00 per hour.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain property to the desired standards expressed by the company's goals
  • Oversee maintenance and construction of landscape areas, hardscapes, turf areas, pastures, hiking/horse trails, fences, and water amenities
  • Maintain all plant material using professional horticulture practices
  • Maintain and repair irrigation systems
  • Coordinate pre- and post-emergent herbicide applications for weed control in landscape beds and turf areas
  • Oversee maintenance of building exteriors, swimming pool, and outdoor furniture
  • Coordinate cleaning of fireplaces and distribution of firewood throughout the property
  • Coordinate furniture moving and setup of outdoor events
  • Supervise crews during the absence of the Grounds Manager
  • Understand the entire work scope and responsibilities of the Grounds Team
  • Ability to organize and multitask
  • Knowledge of standard landscape practices
  • Responsible for engine and equipment maintenance
  • Responsible for engine and equipment repair
  • Responsible for the setup and takedown of special events

Must comply with all company policies and procedures. Regular and consistent attendance is required to fulfill the essential functions of this position Must be able to work well with other Team Members, Managers, and interact with our guests.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ability to effectively train and supervise Grounds Team Members in safety, departmental procedures, horticulture practices, grounds maintenance duties, and equipment operation
  • Work closely with the Grounds Manager during hiring and termination policies
  • A role model to the team
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2-year degree or three years’ commercial landscape experience
  • Knowledge of OSHA and safety equipment standards
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to communicate clearly with management and employees to accomplish operational goals
  • Ability and confidence to interact with the guests
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of math
  • Ability to correctly calculate pesticide and fertilizer application rates
  • Ability to understand and manage budget parameters
REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to see the big picture while focusing on the details required to preserve the five-star appearance
  • Must be able to exercise judgment and make decisions based on job knowledge and awareness of company goals
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to walk several miles of mountainous hiking trails
  • Must be able to operate a company vehicle or golf cart safely
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
