Job summary

The City of Concord is seeking a hardworking Solid Waste/ Grounds Worker to maintain City grounds, roadways and facilities by collecting solid waste and recycling materials.

You will assist on collection equipment, deliver and repair carts, and respond to missed collections while following safety rules and performing basic equipment maintenance. A high school diploma and valid NC driver’s license are required, with at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting data related to waste collection routes.
• Performing basic mathematical calculations for route times and quantities.
• Operating machinery and hand tools used in waste collection and maintenance.
• Communication and interpersonal skills for coworker and public interactions.

Responsibilities

• Assist on knuckle boom or rear load garbage truck and vacuum leaf collection.
• Deliver and repair roll out carts; collect litter and maintain downtown areas.
• Identify missed collections and investigate potential code violations.
• Follow safety procedures; perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
