Job summary

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) is recruiting for a Grounds Maintenance Worker3 for the Facilities and Grounds Department.

This position performs a wide variety of landscape and gardening duties, including:

• Planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, and fertilizing
• Applying herbicides and weeding
• Operating hand tools, light mechanized equipment (power mowers, tractor mowers, trenchers, forklifts)
• Maintaining grounds areas clean and free of trash, fallen leaves, snow, and ice
• Operating light, medium, and heavy equipment (pickup trucks, tractors, trash compactors, loaders)
• Maintaining parking lots and roads by patching asphalt, paint striping, and installing appropriate signage
• Performing other duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications

PER EXECUTIVE ORDER 2026-002, ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2026.

• One (1) year of experience performing grounds maintenance work using a variety of tools, equipment, and techniques; OR
• Six (6) months of experience as a Grounds Maintenance WorkerII in Nevada State service; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above

Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre‑employment screening for controlled substances. A valid Class “C” Nevada driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Schedule

The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours in the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure, or building operations.

Compensation

Grade 23 (Step01, $19.62/hr). Salary is determined by grade and step; placement above Step01 is based on recruitment, qualifications, internal equity, and budgets. Salary placement and acceleration are governed by the Nevada Administrative Code.
