Job summary

Friendly Senior Living in New York is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain outdoor spaces and assist with basic maintenance tasks on the campus. You will perform mowing, pruning, mulching, snow removal, and related duties under the direction of the Facilities Director.

The role requires neat appearance, dependability, a valid NYS driver’s license, and the ability to work outdoors year-round, including winter snow removal and weekend on-call shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Equivalent experience in grounds and landscaping work including planting, pruning, mowing, snow removal and the like.
• Must be neat in appearance, dependable, pleasant personality.
• Licenses / Certifications: Must have a valid NYS driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Performs grounds keeping tasks across the campus (weeding, mowing, edging, mulching, raking, digging, planting).
• Snow removal and maintenance duties as assigned by the Facilities Director.
• Responds to resident tickets and maintains cleanliness of the maintenance areas.
• Participates in in-service education and safety programs.

Position Summary

Carries out grounds work, snow removal, and occasional light maintenance duties as assigned by the Facilities Director.

Essential Job Functions

• Performs grounds keeping tasks throughout the campus, task include but are not limited to;

  • Picking up trash / debris
  • Operating power equipment/pick-up truck/tractor
  • Maintaining cleanliness of maintenance garage
• Reports to fire zone when alarm sounds.
• Participates in in-service education and safety programs.
• Ensure that resident tickets are resolved promptly

Qualifications

• A combination of experience, education, and/or training which substantially demonstrates the following knowledge and skills:
• Equivalent experience in grounds and landscaping work including planting, pruning, mowing, snow removal and the like.
• Must be neat in appearance, dependable, pleasant personality.
• Licenses / Certifications: Must have a valid NYS driver’s license.

• Requires ability to relate and be respectful to a wide variety of people and provide superior customer service to all including Residents, co-workers, vendors, family members and visitors.
• Position requires working Outdoors year round
• Requires the ability to be on call / cover weekend shifts during the winter months for snow removal.
• Must wear employee badge at all times while on-the-job.
• Must report to work on time and adhere to attendance policy.
• Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding information about Resident, co-workers, vendors, family members and visitors.
