Job summary

The Cobb County School District is seeking a Groundskeeper to support Maintenance Services. The role reports to the Supervisor, Maintenance Services and works under the Annual Operational Employee schedule to maintain school grounds.

Responsibilities include performing assigned grounds maintenance tasks, operating related equipment safely, and maintaining inventory and records. The position offers a classified hourly pay schedule and bi-weekly pay, with non-exempt status and rank K (NW11).

Qualifications

• Educational level: None.
• Certification required: Valid Georgia driver's license.
• Experience: 1 year in lawn care/landscaping preferred.
• Physical: walking, standing, kneeling, stairs, ladders; lift 75 pounds.
• Abilities: written and oral communication; computer skills; operate equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Takes direction from head groundskeeper and completes assigned work timely.
• Promotes a positive image with customers and peers.
• Provides 24/7 on-call support as needed.
• Maintains computerized maintenance records and state/local requirements.
• Manages parts inventory and returns excess parts to stock.
• Cares for vehicles, tools, and equipment; ensures maximal usage.
• Plans, stages, and completes equipment maintenance and installation.
• Initiates and completes projects timely and accurately.
• Reports safety issues to the administrator.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
