Job summary

This position is located at the Civil Engineering Squadron of the 165th Airlift Wing in Garden City, Georgia.

Under general supervision, performs mowing and edging, repairs to grounds equipment, and basic concrete pour and finishing work, while completing required paperwork. Note: duties are outdoor in extreme temperatures, with exposure to noises and herbicide fumes; pre‑employment drug test and background checks apply; a valid driver’s license is required.

Job Description:

This position is located at the Civil Engineering Squadron of the 165th Airlift Wing in Garden City, Georgia.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, performs multiple-types of grounds-related work, including mowing and edging, repairs to grounds maintenance equipment, and basic concrete pour and finishing work. Completes paperwork as required and

follows all applicable safety rules and guidelines.

NOTE:

The selected applicant will work outdoors in extreme temperatures and will be exposed to loud noises and fumes from herbicide application, gasoline, and two cycle engines. Manual labor required with heavy lifting of landscape

materials, bending, digging, planting, pruning, lawn care, and herbicide application.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to those applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess any combination of the following:

Previous experience as a landscape gardener; Experience operating equipment such as a kaboda, bobcat, backhoe, tractor/batwing mower; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B; 2 years of experience performing duties similar to those above; Herbicide/Pesticide Applicator License/Certification

Additional Information:

The selected applicant will also have following requirements:

• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test and will be placed in the pool for the State Random Drug Testing Program.

Selected applicant must pass a pre-employment background investigation, which includes a Georgia criminal records search, AND a post-employment federal background investigation, which includes a national criminal records search.
