Job summary

Montgomery College, Germantown campus, seeks a Grounds Maintenance Worker Lead to oversee daily grounds tasks. The role runs Monday–Friday, 6:00–2:30, and involves supervising staff, performing routine grounds maintenance, and managing specialized tasks such as aquatic area maintenance and debris removal.

The position requires at least three years in a lead role in landscape maintenance, a valid Class C Driver's License, and high school graduation or GED.

Qualifications

• Three years of hands-on lead or supervisor experience in commercial landscape or grounds maintenance.
• Experience operating snow removal equipment such as tractors and trucks with blades.
• Valid Class C Driver's License with required endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and instruction to assigned staff.
• Receive and delegate work assignments as well as review/inspect the work of assigned staff.
• Perform routine grounds maintenance such as graffiti and trash removal, including bio-hazardous material.
• Maintain landscaped areas including mowing, edging, seeding, fertilizing, and pruning, plus leaf and debris removal.
• Clean parking lots and sidewalks of debris.
• Maintain and repair aquatic areas throughout the year.
• Remove dead animals from campus grounds.
• During inclement weather, remove snow and ice as mandated.
• Operate vehicles and various types of tools and equipment.
• Process work orders and assist other skilled trades.
