Job summary

The City of Aiken is seeking a Maintenance Worker to join our Public Services Department in the Buildings and Grounds Division. Responsibilities include installing and maintaining seasonal flowerbeds, general landscaping, and performing manual labor in various weather conditions.

You will operate mowers, small engines, and hand tools while following verbal instructions and safety practices. Candidates should have a valid state driver’s license and be able to read and write.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write and understand and follow verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Installation and maintenance of seasonal flowerbeds.
• General landscaping maintenance.
• Performing manual labor and related duties.
• Installs sod, trees and various other plants.
• Applies pesticides and herbicides.
• Operates chipper and a variety of commercial mowers and small engine hand tools.
• Works in inclement weather.
