Job summary

City of Springdale, AR seeks a seasonal Landscape Technician to perform ongoing lawn and landscape maintenance under the Public Works Department. Duties include mowing, edging, weeding and planting under guidance, with occasional leadership of a small crew.

Must have 7–11 months of related experience or training and a valid Arkansas driver’s license; Master Gardener certification or equivalent is preferred. Background check required; mosquitoes maintenance also part of duties.

Job description

The incumbent is responsible to perform ongoing maintenance of lawns and landscaped areas under the care of the Public Works Department.

Safety/Security Sensitive Designation:

This position is classified as safety/security sensitive under the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment and is therefore subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

• Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers; maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
• Perform lawn mowing, trimming and edging.
• Operate brush hog and specialty mowing equipment.
• Perform weeding and watering of landscape areas.
• Plant landscape areas as directed.
• Trim trees and shrubs.
• Act as crew leader for small landscape crew.
• Perform general maintenance duties as directed.
• Mosquito maintenance.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.

• 7 to 11 months of related experience and/or training.
• Must possess a valid Arkansas Driver's License.
• Master Gardener certification or equivalent training/experience preferred.
• Must be proficient in the use of a work truck, tools, and various maintenance equipment.
• Ability to utilize both internal and external resources to obtain information and data necessary to carry out routine assignments and special projects.
• Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff.
• Experience installing and maintaining landscape projects is preferred.

Must successfully pass criminal background check, including but not limited to convictions, guilty pleas, or no contest pleas to violent offenses, theft offenses, and offenses against children.
